As a long time resident of Kake, I can share traditional and up-to-date local knowledge of the area. Your bear hunt will be more productive since you won't face a maze of unfamiliar forest and island channels. The first stage of your black bear hunt is your flight to Juneau. The second stage of your hunting trip is the bush plane flight to Kake airstrip I pick you up at the airstrip and lodge you comfortably at my bear hunt headquarters. Using my orientation, you decide where and how to hunt. Only a few hunters will be booked at a time. There is so much area that you will have no problem coordinating your black bear hunt with others in camp. Most hunters use spot and stalk or interpretation of the terrain, sign, weather and season, among other hunting options. There are lots of bears. During five days of black bear hunting , you stand a good chance to pass over lesser opportunities and to find the huge bear you are looking for. Above all, have fun and do it your way. Use of trucks and boats free with lodging. I do not provide any hunting equipment or go with you. Your fee is for lodging and facilities. You may use boats and vehicles for any purpose. Hunting with them is your choice. Business license is a multipurpose recreational camp. Not a guide, transporter or outfitter. Anybody who stays here can use the transportation. Because this is bear country, clients mostly are bear hunters.
